Hello there
You’ve stumbled upon my virtual hoard of existential musings, RUMINATIONS. It’s so nice to meet you. This is a newsletter for writers and artists and poets and all with a proclivity for dark and beautiful things. A culmination of far too much brooding and a fervent love of the arts, RUMINATIONS is a place for me to explore what it means to be a writer and poetess in our modern world.
In addition to extended essays and poetry, paid subscribers get full access to ALTARS & ARTISTS, a monthly interview series exploring the poetry of artists’ spaces, and weekly letters with personal updates, literary recommendations, mood boards, and favourites—all delivered directly to your mailbox with my love and a touch of existential dread.
Allow me to introduce myself
My name is Caitlin Kotula and I am a writer, poetess, and hopeless ruminator living in Perth/Boorloo, Australia. My poetry and short fiction are published locally and internationally, and my debut poetry collection, WORM FOOD AND BONE SAND, was released in 2022.
In 2024, I was awarded an All Write Hot Desk Fellowship by Centre For Stories to assemble the bones of my next project (shhh), and served as writer-in-residence in the Nordic countryside at Arteles Creative Center, Finland. Together, these opportunities have deepened my fascination with the poetics of place and space, feminine rage, and art as vociferation.
When not penning poems or annotating my books, rumour has it one might also find me editing, nursing, filming, or studying for a Master of Arts in Creative Writing.
